Who Won The INR 12 Crore Onam Bumper Lottery?

Jayapalan, the autorickshaw driver who hails from Maradu, has won the 12 Crore Onam Bumper Lottery. There was a rumor going around that an NRI had won the lottery. It is only when Jayapalan submitted the ticket with the number TE645465 to a bank in Kochi, the winner was announced.

The Kuranagappaly Sub Office in Kollam distributed the ticket, which was sold at the Meenakshi Lottery agency, located near the Tripunithura Statue. As a frequent lottery buyer, Jayapalan purchased the INR 300 rupee worth 12 Crore Onam Bumper Lottery on 10th September. And, he won!

He will receive an amount of INR 7.39 crores after the 10% tax deduction. He plans to pay off his debts using the money.

The Rumored NRI Story

Saithalvi from Wayanad had been working as a helper in a Dubai hotel for the past four years. He claimed to have purchased the lottery with the number TE645465 from his friend Ahammed. Saithalvi shared that he paid INR 300 via Google pay to his friend for the ticket, who shared a picture of the ticket with him via WhatsApp.

When the news of Jayapalan broke out, Saithalvi said that he was cheated on. His friend, Ahammed, however, claims that Saithalvi was lying. The picture of the winning lottery ticket was taken from Facebook and shared with him as a joke.

Saithalvi’s colleagues have said that stringent legal action would be taken against those who were involved in cheating him.
