People are now looking for eco-friendly, sustainable home decor options that do not clutter a space, rather, enhances it aesthetically. Macrame artistic designs bring that touch of prettiness into a space. That’s exactly why you should check out this Irinjalakuda based small business – Macrame Shop – that designs eco-friendly, hand-knitted products with macrame art.

What’s The Story?

Febin George from Thrissur, an MSC Marine Biology graduate, started Macrame Shop after her studies. Being a corona graduate (if that’s even a phrase), she had ample time at her disposal to learn the craft. “While I was still in college, I would watch a bunch of tutorials and videos about macrame art. When the lockdown happened, I delved into it further. I enquired about the Macrame cord nearby, but unfortunately, I couldn’t get my hands on the real one. So I started to practice with woollen threads. Turned out, I was really good at it. In fact, my friends and family started to appreciate my work.”

One fine day, she received a call from a shop she had inquired about earlier. Febin was told that there was a need for a couple of macrame pot hangers and that they were willing to provide the material. “That’s how I finally got my hands on the macrame cord for the first time. I took up the work too,” she shared.
