Most of the movies in the Malayalam film industry have the ‘one time watch’ tag. Repeatedly watching such movies never gave the same feel and vibe as the first watch. But there are some gems that are worth a second, third, and more number of watches. Because, no matter how many times you re-watch it, it’s always great. Here is a list of Malayalam movies you may never find boring:

CID Moosa

The lead role, played by Dileep, became the funniest private detective Malayalis have ever seen. With Cochin Haneefa and Harisree Ashokan in supporting roles, the movie is a comical relief to the audience. We miss such a genre of movies!

Vettam

Directed by Priyadarshan, this movie is about the journey of Gopi (played by Dileep), filled with comical and dramatic incidents. The appearance of a huge cast in the second half adds more to the comical element of the film. The Cochin Haneefa, Kalabhavan Mani and Jagathy Sreekumar combination always tickle our funny bones. It’s hard to fall asleep while watching Vettam.

Kilukkam

Kilukkam features one of the most loved comedy duo, Mohanlal and Jagathy Sreekumar. The funny incidents that Joji (Mohanlal) and Nischal (Jagathy) undergo, forms a major crux of the movie. Also, the involvement of Revathy adds to the comic relief. The introduction of  Innocent in the second half, especially the famous lottery scene, makes it entertaining to watch, and hence you will never find it boring.

Manichithrathazhu

This epic psychological horror film directed by Fazil features Innocent and Kuthiravattam Pappu, for the humorous moments, along with Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, and Shobana. The movie caters more to comedy than the horror element, which the Malayali audience finds entertaining.

Nadodikkattu

Directed by Sathyan Anthikad, this film introduced the famous Dasan and Vijayan duo, played by Mohanlal and Sreenivasan, respectively. This duo is a pair of detectives who solve cases in a funny manner. Their characters remain among the favorites of Malayali cinema lovers.

Akkare Akkare Akkare

This film is the third movie that features Dasan and Vijayan. They claim to be really intelligent CIDs. The film showcases incidents that occur in their lives when they are sent to the USA for a special operation. The film is best known for the Sadhanam Kayyilundo technique, a trick used for identifying Malayalis.

Mookkilla Rajyathu

This comedy film features Mukesh, Siddique, Thilakan, and Jagathy Sreekumar in lead roles. It shows them as four patients who escape from a mental hospital and try to return to normal lives. What follows is a series of unfortunate events that can crack up anybody.

In Harihar Nagar

This movie shows the life of four friends – Mahadevan (Mukesh), Govindankutty (Siddique), Appukuttan (Jagadish), and Thomaskutty (Ashokan) – living in Harihar Nagar. The foolish antics of Appukuttan forms the comical crux of the film. With a decent blend of humor and drama, the film is non-boring and highly entertaining.

Rajamanikyam

With Mammootty in the lead role as Bellary Raja, this movie forms a perfect blend of comedy, drama and action. The way Mammootty delivers his dialogues adds to the over-the-top drama that mass movies are known for.

Charlie

Dulquer Salmaan plays the lead role as Charlie. Charlie is a fun-loving man who likes to spread happiness and give surprises. This movie offers a huge amount of wholesomeness. Being a feel-good film, it is always pleasing to the eye.

During the pandemic, these movies were repeatedly telecasted on television. It gave enormous relief to people who had to stay home. It became a way in which the people could shift their focus from the horrors that the pandemic brought out. Such Malayalam movies will always remain on the list of films you may never find boring and continue to offer wholesomeness in abundance.
