The Kerala Police was finally able to nab tattoo artist Sujeesh PS after he absconded. The artist was accused of multiple accounts of sexual assaults during his sessions with his clients. Six women had approached the Commissioner of Police with the complaint. Upon probing, the police filed two First Information Reports (FIR) against Sujeesh.
Kochi police commissioner Nagaraju Chakilam shared that they have registered six cases of sexual harassment against him. Sujeesh has been booked under Section 354 (Assault or use of criminal force to any woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) and Section 376 (sexual assault) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Even though there are six complaints registered, the police expect more complaints to come. Many survivors had refused to file a complaint because they wanted to remain anonymous.
After a post by an 18-year-old woman went viral on social media, other women who had faced the same took to social media to share their experiences. It was shocking to know that many women had faced sexual abuse by Sujeesh.
It was this collective sharing of experiences and outpour of outrage that gave these women hope to get the justice they deserved.
