Kerala’s First Vande Bharat Express: Timings, Ticket Fare, Stoppages and More

The wait is over for Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express train as it is set to begin its operation from Thiruvananthapuram. The train will run daily except on Thursdays and will cover 11 districts in Kerala, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod.

The Vande Bharat train will operate on the Thiruvananthapuram Central-Kasaragod corridor with 914 seats in the chair car and 86 seats in the executive chair car. The fares are Rs 1,590 (for CC) and Rs 2,880 (for EC) for the entire 586 km distance in the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod route. The train timings, ticket fares, and other details are discussed below.

The Vande Bharat Express is set to launch on April 25, as per the announcement by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The train will run on the Thiruvananthapuram Central-Kasaragod corridor and back as train numbers 20634 and 20633, respectively. Bookings for the train were opened on Sunday morning, and as per reports, the tickets are already sold out.

The train will cover 11 districts of Kerala, and its daily operation will begin on the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram route on April 26 and on the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod corridor on April 28. The train timings are such that it will take 8 hours and 5 minutes to travel from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod, departing from Thiruvananthapuram at 5:20 am and reaching Kasaragod at 1:25 pm. It will depart from Kasaragod at 2:30 pm. The train will stop for three minutes at Ernakulam Town and two minutes at other stations.

The Vande Bharat Express has 914 seats in the chair car and 86 seats in the executive chair car. The fares for the entire 586 km distance in the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod route are Rs 1,590 (CC) and Rs 2,880 (EC). The Thiruvananthapuram-Kollam fare is Rs 435 (CC) and Rs 820 (for EC). The fare on the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram route is Rs 1,520 (CC) and Rs 2,815 (EC). Ticket bookings can be made through the IRCTC website, mobile app, and reservation counters at railway stations. The tickets for the executive chair car are not available for the next five days.
