Produced and composed by Pina Colada Blues, sung by Mridul Anil and written by Abhiram Jithendra, Butterflies focuses on the first part of the romantic journey – when a couple is on a honeymoon period. It evokes that feeling of ‘butterflies in your stomach’ when you fall in love and everything else that comes along with it. Kevin Shaji, aka Pina Colada Blues, says, “The song is written in a way where you have to listen to an entire verse to make sense of it, as taking out individual lines won’t. It’s like how you cannot explain something or someone you love in a single line.”
The music video of Butterflies captures these emotions beautifully with a couple locking eyes for the first time, and falling in love. It shows their first dates, the exchange of gifts and how they start spending more time with each other. The song ends with a cliffhanger, hinting at what the rest of the album has to offer.

What we really liked about this song is the Reggae-style pop production, with instruments such as sax and trumpets, in the drops. Butterflies also has a distinctively styled guitar outro. When combined with Mridul’s soulful voice, the song feels like a perfect mood setter for someone who wishes to relive the moments when they fell in love.
