For most people (at least for me), geography is associated with school exams, memorising capitals and forgetting them immediately after. It is rarely something people willingly sit around and play for fun. But Sara Thekkan, the founder of C’s The World, wanted to make learning about countries feel more like a family game night than studying.
The idea for C’s The World struck Sara during COVID as a simple geography-based card game that mixes learning, competition and nostalgia into one colourful box. Today, C’s The World has started finding players not just across India, but in different parts of the world as well.
Sara, who is originally from Kochi and now based in Munich, Germany, handles almost every part of the business herself. “I am the designer, I am the creator, I do everything,” she says. While the business is officially registered in her mother’s name in India to manage deliveries and logistics, the entire creative side of C’s The World has been built by her from scratch.

How C’s The World Started
The idea first came to Sara nearly five to six years ago during the pandemic. At the time, she was working in marketing before eventually moving to Germany. Later, after becoming pregnant in early 2024, she decided to pause her work projects and finally pursue the idea that had been sitting in the back of her mind for years.
Interestingly, C’s The World was never initially supposed to become a game. “It was only supposed to be a website that contains information about different countries of the world,” she explains. She started collecting information about countries because she felt the kind of geography knowledge she was looking for simply did not exist in one organised space.

But while designing the website, she noticed that “all the information was being placed into tile-like format, and it sort of looked like playing cards to me.”
That one visual observation changed the direction of the project entirely. The colourful layouts and country data transformed into playing cards. One game idea led to another, and before long, Sara had developed an entire box containing multiple geography-based games.

What Exactly Is C’s The World?
C’s The World Fun Box contains 197 cards and includes five different playable games. Each game is designed for a different kind of player, with information on every card caetgorised into Country, Capital, Citizen, Coordinates, Communication, Currency, Code, Cool facts and camera capture. It’s all about the C’s of the World, which is part of what makes the product feel versatile and accessible.

Two of its flagship games are called C’s The World and Challenger. “If you’re playing with a group, C’s The World is the go-to game,” Sara says. “Challenger is a bit more quizzical.”
The box also includes games inspired by formats people already know. There are geography-inspired versions of poker, rummy and UNO called Capital Gains, Capitalla and Colour Colour. “Capital Gains is for poker lovers,” she explains. Meanwhile, Capitalla, which she describes as her personal favourite, is essentially “a country version of rummy.” For younger children, there is Colour Colour, a simpler game designed specifically for kids.
All the information about each game is mentioned on the website.

A Geography Game That Feels Like a Party Game
Despite being educational, Sara insists that the game was never designed to feel academic. “Honestly, this game was not designed keeping kids in mind, but adults,” she laughs. “Adults end up having a lot more fun with it.”
That balance between learning and entertainment is what gives C’s The World its appeal. Depending on who is playing, the fun box can feel like a party game, a quiz game or simply a casual family activity.
One of the biggest ideas behind the game was also digital detox. “The idea is for people to get off their screens,” Sara says. According to her, the game often becomes the centre of gatherings because players constantly want “just one more round.”
“I’ve also had parents come back and tell me, ‘I didn’t know my kid was this smart,’” she says. “There’s not a single card game you’ll play with C’s The World where you won’t walk out smarter,” she adds. “You’ll definitely know a lot more about the world, and you’ll have fun doing it.”

Looking back
Sara says it all still feels surreal because everything came together so naturally. “It just fell into place,” she says. “Everything became about the C’s of the world, and suddenly the name C’s The World felt perfect.”
