Would you fight for a piece of pappadam? A wedding in Muttam in Alappuzha turned out to be the worst nightmare for the couple when a fight broke out for pappadam. Yes, you heard that right.
A common practice in Malayali weddings is that once the bride and groom are done with their rituals, the guests either rush to get their photo taken or to the lunch hall for sadya. In this wedding, the same happened, but the lunch hall turned violent when a guest was denied pappadam. What started out as a burst of fiery emotions soon turned out to be a ruckus, where properties worth 1.5 lakhs were damaged. All for a pappadam. Note that point.
According to news sources, one of the groom’s friends asked for a second round of pappadam. But the caterers refused to give it to him. An argument burst out and turned into a fistfight, which could have been avoided. Three people suffered injuries and 12 tables made of marble and 25 chairs were completely damaged.
Later, the issue was resolved after a conversation with the people who hosted the wedding. But can you believe it? A fight for pappadam? Only in Kerala!
