For those who aren’t aware of macrame, it’s a crafting technique that uses knots to create an art piece. It’s like weaving or knitting, but in this case, the only equipment used is your hands. If you want to add some macrame to your decor, we’d suggest you check Knot Stories by Sinu Rajendran. Right from handcrafted natural boho wall hangings and accessories to personalised dolls, Knot Stories can give you something special to cherish and hold on to.
What’s Her Story?
Sinu Rajendran, hailing from Mavelikara, started her Macrame venture as a way to escape from the post-partum depression she was going through after her delivery. After doing her BFA in Fine Arts from Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts at Mavelikkara, she started working in the advertisement industry.
After giving birth to her daughter Jaanki, she wanted a creative outlet to find her happy calling. That’s when she got in macrame. What started out as a hobby eventually turned out to be a business venture for Sinu.
She shared, “Initially, I did macrame wall hanging, mandala art and plant hangers. A few of my friends told me that they needed customised macrame art and that’s when I seriously started to think about it. Later, I created an Instagram account and posted a few of my creations. Slowly enquiries started coming in and I decided to convert this hobby into a business.”
