KINFRA Mega Food Park, Palakkad is a Sector-specific project for the Food Processing Industry. The Project Zone for the park extends over the region around Palakkad district covering six other districts – Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Ernakulam. The park, which is spread over 79.42 acres of land and cost ₹102.13 crores, is expected to lead to the direct creation of 4,000 jobs and 10,000 jobs indirectly.
The project is implemented in accordance with the Mega Food Park Scheme (MFPS) of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI) Govt. of India. Jointly inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Union Minister for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries Narendra Singh Tomar, the State’s first mega food park started functioning on 1st October 2020.

Around 50 units are projected to operate in the park eventually, and land has already been allotted for 30 units; out of which 2 units have already started operations.
The project is expected to speed up the State’s development in the food processing sector. The prospective units coming up in Mega Food Park are expected to be engaged in the production of value-added products and are expected to source their raw materials directly from the farmers in the Project Zone. Officials say that nearly 2 lakh farmers will benefit from this project, thereby strengthening Kerala’s agricultural and industrial sectors.
The park would also provide concessions to entrepreneurs such as Central grants, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) loan, and 35% of investment given through grants.
