Meet Fariz Lezin, a costume designer, stylist, and creative director from Kerala. As one of the rising talents in Mollywood’s fashion scene, Fariz has built a reputation for his minimal aesthetic, retro sensibilities, and meticulous attention to detail. From celebrity red carpets to intimate wedding ceremonies, his work blends cultural roots with contemporary style.
A former illustrator who discovered fashion through art, Fariz Lezin now applies that same creative vision to building complete visual narratives. Every piece he creates is custom-made, never repeated, and designed to reflect the personality of the person wearing it.
How It All Started
Fariz’s journey started with drawing. He talks about his early years with genuine warmth. “I had a beautiful and colourful childhood during which I drew a lot. Illustrations tempted me. I used to love creating art and gradually began exploring options to pursue as a career. Throughout this entire journey, my family supported me immensely. Despite not knowing much about fashion design, they continued to encourage me and my talent. It makes me so happy to see them proud of who I am and what I do.”
That family support became the foundation for everything that followed. Even though fashion design wasn’t familiar territory for them, they believed in his talent. That belief gave Fariz the confidence to pursue something unconventional.
From Design to Direction
Fariz began with his natural drawing skills, creating visually striking pieces. But he quickly realised that design alone wasn’t enough. You need to know how to present it, how to style it, how to make people feel something when they see it. Styling became part of his toolkit. Then came creative direction, where he now oversees entire visual concepts: the mood, the story, the emotion behind every frame.
“I started with costume designing, which helped me understand how outfits can bring characters and stories to life. Then I moved into styling, where I explored fashion more freely and developed my own sense of aesthetics. Later, I stepped into creative direction—combining everything I’ve learned to create complete visual stories and concepts. Each stage has helped me grow and shape my vision in the fashion industry”, Fariz Lezin shares.

What Shapes Fariz Lezin’s Aesthetic
Fariz’s creative vision is rooted in culture, art, and traditional elements, but filtered through a distinctly minimal lens. He doesn’t overcomplicate things. There’s a lightness to how he works, reflected in the clean, subtle patterns of his designs. Retro aesthetics are his constant, blending timeless charm with modern minimalism in ways that feel effortless.
“My style is minimal and modern with a touch of elegance. I focus on clean cuts, good fabrics, and fine details. I don’t repeat designs or use ready-made; every outfit is made fresh for each person. I really love to make new signature designs, and that process takes time. But for me, creating a new design feels like solving a puzzle; every piece comes together to form something special. My looks are simple but stylish, and they always reflect confidence and individuality”, says the designer.
The Celebrity Styling Process
Celebrity styling is where Fariz’s approach really comes into focus. There’s no template, no repeat looks, no shortcuts. Every outfit is built fresh, with the event, the crowd, and the celebrity’s personality in mind.
“When styling a celebrity, I always start by understanding their personality – how they express themselves, what makes them feel confident, and the image they want to project. My goal is to highlight their individuality while keeping my unique artistic touch visible through silhouettes, textures, and styling details. Celebrity styling isn’t easy. It takes time, planning, and precision, but that final output, when everything comes together perfectly, gives me a huge sense of confidence and satisfaction”, says Fariz.

Weddings, But Personal
Wedding styling is a different kind of challenge. There’s tradition to honour, personal style to capture, and the emotional weight of a once-in-a-lifetime event. Fariz approaches each wedding as a deeply personal project. Nothing is repeated, nothing is off-the-rack. Everything is built from scratch, customised to suit the person wearing it: their height, their features, the event’s vibe, the décor, the cultural significance.
His process involves detailed consultations and careful fabric selection. He wants to understand not just what the bride or groom looks like, but who they are. The trial session is his favourite part of the entire process. Fariz says that seeing the client’s excitement when they first see themselves in the outfit makes everything worthwhile.

How Fariz Lezin Builds a Visual World
As a creative director, Fariz’s role extends far beyond picking outfits. He’s building entire visual worlds. He starts with emotion. What should this feel like? From there, he works backwards into the visuals: mood boards, textures, colours, silhouettes. Every detail matters. Styling, lighting, props, and composition must all support a unified narrative.
The magic happens when the entire team clicks. The art team, photographer, models, stylists. When everyone is in sync, the concept stops being just an idea and becomes something real. The energy on set during those moments is what he lives for: the teamwork, the improvisation, the shared excitement. That’s when he knows they’ve created something memorable.

Managing Two Brands
One of Fariz’s biggest milestones was finding his signature style: figuring out what makes his work uniquely his. The challenge? Managing two brands simultaneously. His casual line and his wedding line operate in completely different worlds. Different aesthetics, different tones, different creative directions. It’s a lot to juggle.
But that contrast is also what keeps him sharp. Balancing two different aesthetics has strengthened his adaptability and broadened his perspective. He can shift between simplicity and grandeur, subtlety and celebration. It keeps things interesting and pushes him to keep evolving.
Path Ahead
Fariz Lezin isn’t slowing down. His vision is clear.
“I always want to keep growing as a designer and stylist, creating something new and better each time. My dream is to build a strong brand identity that speaks on its own. I want to take my work to bigger, global stages, collaborate with more artists, explore new cultures and styles, and keep pushing creative limits without losing my own touch.”
He wants to build something that lasts. A brand identity that stands on its own. Global collaborations. New cultural influences. But always with his signature touch intact.
Fariz’s story is one of steady evolution: from childhood illustrations to Mollywood’s fashion forefront. He’s building a body of work rooted in craft, culture, and an unwavering commitment to creating something new every single time.
