Malayalis all over the world were glued to their screens on Sunday, eagerly waiting to hear the outcome of the 2021 Kerala Election. When the state bled red with the Left Democratic Front (LDF) rewriting history by successfully winning a second term, there was a lot of celebration (thankfully, almost none of them were public gatherings). On top of that, some people claim that the BJP’s embarrassing loss in the state shows how dearly Keralites value secularism. Kerala has now become the only State Assembly in India that does not have a BJP representative.
