It has been 89 years since the release of Vigathakumaran. Malayalam cinema has had a difficult yet astonishing growth since. The golden age of Malayalam cinema is considered to be from 1980-1990, which is marked by the emergence of many brilliant directors and writers who churned out movies in different genres. It was during this era that Bharathan and Padmarajan ruled Malayalam cinema with movies like Vaisali and Rathinirvedam. Conclusively, many movies which changed the face of Mollywood were born in this era. 

This was also the era that witnessed Malayalam cinema’s evergreen heroes like Mammootty and Mohanlal rising to power. He is also nicknamed the ‘Face of Indian Cinema ‘. 

He ruled the Malayalam cinema for four decades. He’s not only a passionate actor but also a highly disciplined person. It’s a common known fact that Mammootty follows a strict diet (except when it comes to mutton biryani). Mammootty is undoubtedly the most attractive male celebrity that Mollywood has to offer.

Mohanlal

Mohanlal, the complete actor and the personal pride of Malayalam cinema, celebrated his 59th birthday this May. He is yet another actor who seems to defy age. It’s been 41 years since his first movie. From a hot handsome playboy to the rich Royal hunk, Mohanlal has given us major fitness goals and how. If any actor who could play the Malayalam version of Don Corleone from the iconic movie The Godfather, all the Malayalis would agree in unison that it would be our Lalettan. Lal

This actor-director is redefining the norms of age. He began his career as a mimicry artist with his childhood pal Siddique. This combo later teamed up and made their debut in the movie Ramji Rao Speaking, a cult classic. Lal made his entry into acting with Suresh Gopi’s Kaliyattam. Ever since, he has entertained us with roles like Sikkandar Singh, Dasappan, Dr  Zacharia, Kalathiparambil Kalidasan, and so on.

Rahman
