Malayalis love to drink. It’s a fact. Our body is like a machine that runs on alcohol. We are not at all suggesting that we’re addicted to alcohol (maybe we are), but we sure as hell know how to drink like a boss. We learnt how to hold our alcohol from our parents and there’s no doubt that we will proudly pass on the skill to the next gen. That said, the moment you go out drinking with Malayalis, we turn into some other being. Of course, you’d say that everyone shows off their true self when they drink. But, Malayalis do it a tad bit differently.
Our true Malayali self comes out and it’s funny to even look at. I have a group of Malayali friends whom I love hanging out with, especially during our drinking sessions. There’s this one particular guy who brings out his true Malayali avatar when he gets sloshed. His English turns into local Malayalam. Sophisticated words turns into swear words. And then there’s the expressing of extra love that follows. Hanging out with them, I realised that there are few things that they say when they are drunk. And I’m going to list them down.
