Back in the day, there was hardly any places to ‘hangout’ or ‘chill’ with friends in Thrissur. It was either chit-chatting away in the nearest supermarket or tittle-tattling with besties while gorging on Burger Hub’s divine burgers. Now, everyone in Thrissur has a go-to café/ restaurant: the ‘meeting spot’ for lovers, the place that always has a groovy vibe, and the best Friday night hood.
There’s lot to love in Thrissur Town’s food scene. So whether you want a place to just relax from the hustle or enjoy some of the best food the place has to offer, we have you covered with Thrissur’s must-visit cafés. Also, these are few of my favourites too – just saying!
1. Machu Picchu
Location: Uday Nagar, Nellikunnu, Thrissur, Kerala 680006
Never mind its super-sophisticated interiors. The food in Machu Picchu is what you should be more excited about. They’re making Thrissur a better place, one Aymara Chicken at a time. That’s not to say that there aren’t other good stuff in their menu. Basically, everything that comes out of Machu Picchu’s kitchen is banger. You’ll only know if you give it a try, my friend.
2. Fruit Bae
Location: Elctra Complex, Nethaji Road, West Fort Junction, Thrissur, Kerala 680004
If you thought shots were meant only for strong alcohol, wait till you see FruitBae’s juicy menu. After a huge success in Cochin, they opened shop in Thrissur only to satiate your fruit juice cravings. Whether its pure fruit juices, fruit meals, fruit shots, and shakes, Fruit Bae has it covered for you. There’s nothing truly fancy about the place, but their ‘fruits’ menu are on point.
3. FryDay
Location: Nethaji Rd, West Fort Junction, Thrissur, 680004
It’s not just the clever name. FryDay is famous for pairing nostalgia with traditional Kerala snacks. Their menu features everything that will go well with a cup of chaaya, including your favourite beef curry. And as if that’s not enough, you should definitely give their succulent Chatti Pathri, Naadan Pizza, and Milk Cutlets a try. What’s more, it won’t burn a hole in your pocket.
4. Teamo
Location: Ground Floor, Allied Tower, East Fort Street, St Thomas College Rd, Near Selex Mall, Thrissur, Kerala 680005
Teamo feels a bit like walking into a yellow world, literally. It’s probably the smallest café in Town, but it sure as hell feels cozy. They serve Bubble Teas and Milkshakes with love, of course. So if you ever find yourself driving towards East Fort Street, just know that Teamo is waiting for your presence. It’s quite impossible to deny that their milkshakes – with all its thickness and flavour – is mind-blowing (and super yummy).
5. Hungry Paul
Location: Cemetery Rd, Sakthan Thampuran Nagar, Anchery, Thrissur, Kerala 68000
Yes, the name itself will make you feel hungry, let alone their lip-smacking food they serve. Hungry Paul has your Naked Chicken and Beef Burger, Crockpot Mexican Rice with Browned Beef Gravy, Vietnamese Caramelized Pork Bowls, but the real move is to go with the Peri Chicken Kothu Porotta because it makes play for the best kothu porotta on the freaking planet. They never stop experimenting with their menu and that’s exactly why you should give them a visit. It’s the tastiest pit shop right now in Thrissur.
6. Cafe Petrol
Location: Harinagar, Punkunnam, Thrissur, Kerala 680002
Cafe Petrol is one of the absolute best small-town cafés in Thrissur. Their menu is meaty, very much belly-worthy. In fact, you can also get yourself a ‘Selfieccino’ that’ll fuel your soul in the best way possible. It’s the right place to wile away your time while you hog on some great delicacies.
7. Kaf’s Cafe
Location: Ground Floor, Second Gate, Moospet Rd, Opposite Jublee Mission Hospital, East Fort, Thrissur, Kerala 680005
As much as Burger Hub tries to steal the ‘best burger in town’ crown, we know that Kaf’s cafe’s burgers have already usurped the crown. Their burgers are huge, meatier, and more or less messy. It’s home to one of the wackiest burgers in town. So if you’re craving for some juicy meat and big buns, you know where to head to.
8. The Cafe Shakespeare
Location: Nellissery Arcade, Paravattani, Thrissur, Kerala 680005
Thrissur’s first social and creative cafe offers a lot more than great food. It’s a beautiful cafe that not only feels warm, but also meets the expectation of today’s millennial. From combining the rustic, traditional outlook of Indian (more like Thrissur) culture to quirky entertainment interiors, The Cafe Shakespeare is most definitely the right cafe for movie buffs, book enthusiasts, and all-time foodies. You can also freely express your artsy side in the cafe’s ‘Shakespeare Stage’.
9. Dessi Cuppa
Location: Swaraj Round S Rd, Kuruppam, Round South, Poothole, Thrissur
Hands down, Dessi Cuppa has one of the best creamiest drinks for every mood. It’s thick, filled with the yummiest ingredients you can find on Earth, and served with a wide smile. Satiate your sweet-tooth with their mashup of dessert and seductive drinks. You simply can’t refuse them.
10. C’Sons Repeat
Location: Swaraj Round S Rd, Kuruppam, Round South, Poothole, Thrissur
Every once in a while it’s okay to treat yourself to a good meal. And we found the best place to do so. Say hello to the café that started the ‘café trend’ in Thrissur. Here’s a cafe you’ll want to be in a relationship with. C’Sons Repeat has things in their menu that will make your mouth water in no time. If they ask you to stay all day, just say yes and gorge away.
If you think we omitted one of your favourite cafés, drop it below in the comments.
